What better way to commemorate the day, than with his lifetime friend Lightning McQueen! Cars has been this kid's first and favorite movie since he was a crawler! In fact, this year's party plan happened to be a general conversation on the ride home from school one day. Nathan said: "Mom, for my birthday... I want Lightning Mcqueen cupcakes and cookies and pepperoni pizza at school! But (so and so) can't come to my party because he's not my friend because he was being bossy to me!" ...and so the plan was made and executed. I'm sure whoever "so and so" was... eventually made up with his pal Nathan, because fun was had by all in class come Friday Jan 21st to celebrate our Little Lightning's 4th Birthday.
The birthday boy got to wear a few special presents to school today: A Cars mechanics shirt, McQueen ribbon, Lightning shoes and his new race-car backpack! He was happy go lucky! I packed up the trunk with party bags, cupcakes, cookies, grapes and a box of strawberry milk boxes!
Dad picked up Nathan's favorite pizzas from Whole Foods and we met at daycare for the class's lunchtime! We walked in, hands full and all the kids started running toward us screaming at the top of their lungs! It was soooo funny and exciting for Nathan! Little Bro got to venture over from his class and the fun began. We passed out stickers, grapes, milk and pizza squares for a short, giggly, lunch; and then on to the good stuff! CUPCAKES! (with VERY red icing that made for pretty sweet mustaches, cheeks and lips! Self included - Hopefully Ms. Katy isn't the blackmailing type! LOL - She caught me RED handed, lipped, stuffed... ON CAMERA of all things!)
The favor bags were for the kids to take home. They each contained a fun lot of cars themed items: lighting mcqueen belly washer juice, car and #4 cookie(s), stickers, crayons, notepad, mini board book, candy treats, bouncy ball, spinning top and a 48-piece puzzle!
All of the kids were chomping at the bit for the bags. I felt bad leaving the teachers to ward them off for another 5 hours to pick up time. Neither of the boys were happy with the idea that Mom and Dad were actually heading back to work, but they made it through the rest of the day anxious to get those bags. I milked it all I could too! When we got home later that evening, they ate ALLof their dinner ANDcleaned up their playroom spic and span and then........ they got their bags full of goodies to enjoy! Tomorrow, more fun is in store for the birthday boy's BIG day!

What a fun day! I can't believe how much he has grown up! Connor loves Cars too! Happy Birthday sweet man!
